llms.txt adoption among leading SaaS sites
35 of 47 leading B2B SaaS websites (74%) already serve an llms.txt file. The file is a voluntary guide for language models, not a standard.
By Georgi Todorov · Data collected 5 October 2026
What we found
llms.txt is a plain-text file at the root of a site that lists the pages a language model should read first. It is a proposal, not a standard. Even so, 35 of the 47 sites we could check have published one.
The 12 sites without a file are: ahrefs.com, canva.com, docusign.com, figma.com, gitlab.com, grammarly.com, miro.com, snowflake.com, trello.com, workday.com, zoho.com, zoom.com.
Publishing llms.txt does not mean a site is open to every AI crawler. 5 sites have the file and still fully block at least one AI bot in robots.txt: calendly.com, github.com, loom.com, notion.com, servicenow.com.
Full dataset
Method
- The sample is 48 widely used B2B software companies. This is our own selection, not a ranking.
- On 5 October 2026 we requested /llms.txt on each main domain from a browser.
- “Yes” means the address returned a plain-text or markdown file. A 404, a sign-in page or an HTML page counts as “No”.
- One site, airtable.com, could not be checked and is excluded from the percentage.
Limits of this data
- We did not judge the quality or completeness of each file, only whether it exists.
- Some companies keep llms.txt on a docs subdomain instead. Those are not counted here.
- Having the file is not evidence that it changes how AI systems treat a site.
